RESEARCH POSITIONS

 

IMAGE PROCESSING AND ANALYSIS IN TIME-LAPSE MICROSCOPY (INEB -- 
Biomedical Engineering Institute, Porto, Portugal)

 

In the framework of the European Project "Integrated Analysis of Stem 
Cell Function in Plant Growth and Development (Era-Net Plant Genomics)", 
one postdoctoral and one research assistant positions are available.

 

The research is to be carried out at INEB -- Biomedical Engineering 
Institute

(http://www.ineb.up.pt <http://www.ineb.up.pt/>) in the Biomedical 
Imaging and Computer Vision Group, aiming at the development of Image 
Processing tools for tracking and analysis of plant cell division in the 
shoot, root and cambium meristems, in image sequences acquired by 
time-lapse microscopy.

 

The duration of the project is 3 years, and the individual contracts 
will be for a minimum period of one year, renewable up to 3 years. 
Before March 31, 2007, those interested should send a short CV and a 
letter showing the motivation to develop research in image processing 
applications in Biology.

 

Minimum requirements

a)    for Post-doc: Advanced experience on development image processing

software; publications in international journals. Availability for stays 
in the labs of European partners.

b)    For Research Assistant: Undergraduate degree or Master degree with

knowledge and experience in image processing and programming. Interest 
in pursuing a PhD degree is welcome.

Very good knowledge of English is essential.
